Book Blogger Hop January 14 - 17

Book Blogger HopNow that I am actively blogging again, I decided to participate again in this.
"Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?"
I read romance novels for the happy feeling it gives me. I like getting lost in a world where I believe things like this happened (hence why I stick with historical or something that has some kind of fantastical element). I like to be entertained when I read, for the most part. Since I started a job that uses a logic side of my brain quite a bit, coming home and trying to slog through something that doesn't relax me at the same time isn't going to cut it.

But I have noticed lately that I am reading a wider variety (of fiction), and I am glad the trend is moving that way for me. Sadly it is still at the point where I tell people I read and get the question "What kind of books?" the answer almost immediately has them dismiss me and not being a true reader, or some such nonsense. But that really is a post for another time.

Here are some of the romances that keep me coming back:

What A Gentleman Wants - Caroline Linden
Wicked Intetions - Elizabeth Hoyt
The Parasol Protectorate Series - Gail Carriager (huh apparently I haven't reviewed the third... I must get on that!)

So hope you enjoy your stay! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Hi Julia,

I'm visiting, and now following, through the Hop! I love your blog and am looking forward to reading your future posts :) I, too, enjoy reading romance. However, I find that I read a lot of different genres - can't really pinpoint one!

Feel free to visit my blog in your spare time, www.coffeetalereviews.blogspot.com.

    Take care & happy weekend,
    Ms. C

  3. Visiting from the blog hop tour and I'm a new follower! I hate it when people judge you by the books you read. You know, I read for entertainment -- not necessarily to be educated or learn something new, etc. Yes, I read classics, but I also read romance and fantasy and books about worlds I can escape into.

Sorry, I was trying to support you...obviously I get comments like that. Just tell them, I'm an adult, I can read whatever I want!

Come visit if you get the chance: http://bookendcrossing.blogspot.com/2011/01/book-blogger-hop-tour-1-14-to-1-17-2011.html

    Have a great weekend!

  4. Chick lit gets the same sort of reaction from some readers.
I read chick lit like you read romance to take me away from my stresses of the day.
I do read other more serious genres that make me think but totally understand where you are coming from about having to slog through a book. I sometimes just want entertaining rather than educating.

    enjoy ur weekend

  5. Hopping through. New follower!
I like romance books too. It's fun to feel your heart flutter with delight as you read about characters finding true love.

  7. Just hopping by! I have not read a ton of romance, but my blog partner keeps trying to get me to try it out. Perhaps I can find some stuff that sounds good to me by checking out your reviews.

    I am a new follower. :)
